On Saturday, April 15, we assembled three groups who visited parks, facilities, and shelters in Orange County to hand out Bombas socks and bottled water to people experiencing homelessness. One group pulled a wagon around Boysen Park, Pierson Park and La Palma Park in Anaheim. One of our volunteers Cheryl said, “once the word gets out that we have Bombas socks, our neighbors in need find us. They really appreciate getting these super warm and comfy socks.” After visiting the parks, this group stopped by Isaiah House to hand out socks there.
Another group set up a table and spent more than 3 hours handing out socks and water at The Hub OC resource center in the city of Orange, where our homeless neighbors come daily to receive food and medical care and use the laundry and shower facilities. This young group of high school students learned the rewards of caring for other people in our community.
Our third group visited three shelters operated by Mercy House. They handed out socks at the Kramer Bridges shelter, Buena Park Navigation Center temporary shelter, and Huntington Beach Navigation Center temporary shelter. Our board member Paige said, “it was a great experience, and it was nice to see firsthand the contributions of Mercy House in our county.”
Over 900 pairs of Bombas socks were handed out last Saturday. We had a great experience and an amazing day with wonderful conversations everywhere we went. Everyone was super appreciative. We thank Bombas for giving us the opportunity, with the donation of their socks, to reach out to our homeless neighbors and to other nonprofit organizations helping our community.
