For more than 25 years, the Santa Ana Unified School District (SAUSD) has worked to provide support and care for some of the neediest families in Santa Ana; one such activity is the district’s annual Caring Educators Nourishing All (CENA) event.

Each year at CENA, Santa Ana Unified employees, community partners, families, and friends come together on Christmas Eve to provide a warm meal, toys, and books to hundreds of students and their families. Every child receives a new toy, a dictionary, and a new book of their choosing before visiting Santa Claus. The entire family partakes in a warm meal with extra food and fresh produce to take home.

In 2017, a warm holiday meal was provided to more than 2,500 people. This tradition continues at Valley High School, located at 1801 S. Greenville Street on December 24, 2019 from 8:00 AM – Noon.

There are several ways that you can make a difference in the lives of these children and families.

You can:

  • Donate money to help with the cost of feeding hundreds of SAUSD families.
  • Organize a book and/or toy drive at your place of business, church, club, or service organization.
  • Volunteer your services at CENA.

Cash donations are quick and easy. You can donate on the Santa Ana Public Schools Foundation
webpage, located at:

http://santaanapublicschoolsfoundation.org/donate/

Once on the site, use the donation drop down menu to select CENA to give to this magical holiday event. Your support is appreciated. With your assistance, SAUSD will be able to provide a wonderful holiday experience for many of its students and families.

Toy and book donations can be dropped off at the principal office of any Santa Ana elementary school during normal school hours from now until 1:30 PM on Friday, December 20, 2019.

Should you have any questions, you can contact the Office of Community Relations at (714) 558-5521; ask for Lisa Gonzalez-Solomon, CENA Committee Member.
